The Doors
Part of the special series IN MEMORIAM VAL KILMER
The film The Doors begins with Jim Morrison's childhood. He experiences a traumatic event when he sees a married couple die in a car accident. In the 60s, Morrison moves to California and studies film at UCLA. There he meets his future band members Manzarek, Krieger and Densmore.
While the band was still in its infancy, Morrison tried his first mind-expanding drugs. The band initially only played in smaller clubs, but their popularity quickly grew. After The Doors' big breakthrough, Morrison became increasingly infatuated with his own self-image and sank into alcoholism. When he misses rehearsals and gigs as a result, his bandmates try to save him from the alcohol-drug spiral. But Morrison has already drifted completely into a spiritual world.
Both a vibrant tribute to rock cult figure Jim Morrison and to the decade in which he flourished.
