The Dam
In the north of Sudan, on the banks of the Nile, silent workers in the shadow of the Merowe Dam earn their living with hard seasonal work in a brickworks. The news of the mass protests in Khartoum only reaches them in passing. But one of the workers feels a strange desire. He hears voices and has disturbing dreams. Secretly, he builds something out of mud in the desert that can only be guessed at for a long time, but can hardly be named. The film's cleverly crafted images initially convey the monotonous calm of everyday working life, but then turn into a beacon of radical resistance.
