The Brothers Grimm, Wilhelm (Matt Damon) and Jacob (Heath Ledger), are schemers who move from town to town, fooling the inhabitants:inside into believing they are driving out demons. After one such deception, they are brought to a French general by a mysterious man named Cavaldi (Peter Stormare), who persuades them to fight the evil that has kidnapped ten girls from a small village. During the investigation, the cynical Wilhelm and the sensitive Jacob see things that suggest real magic is at work.

THE BROTHERS GRIMM is an over-the-top, whimsical, blackly humorous tale of how the famous Grimm brothers might have come up with their fairy tales - and with its nightmarish conceits and bizarreness, unmistakably a Terry Gilliam film: there's a horse swallowing a child, a mud monster erasing a young girl's eyes, nose and mouth, and a wolf man running amok... And here Gilliam wonders why his film was not given a youth rating in the US.
