The Bride

Rwanda 1997: Three years have passed since the genocide. Eva is a dreamy young woman with a desire to study medicine. But she is abducted by a group of men - part of a traditional marriage ritual called Guterura. At the home of her future husband Silas, she finds a confidante in his cousin. She tells her about the tragic fate of her family. Myriam U. Birara's directorial debut succeeds in telling the story of a friendship in a melancholy and sensitive way in the serious context of forced marriage and genocide, while also making room for hope.
