The Black Hole

A strange thing happens around a suburban apartment block: neglected by life, Sirje and Marte unexpectedly receive a lucrative extraterrestrial offer. Meanwhile, bodybuilder Uma offers Mariliis refuge from her violent partner - but there seems to be a third being living in her apartment. And then there are Jüri and his mother, whose everyday life is given a new dynamic by a beguiling neighbor and an Austrian vacuum cleaner salesman. Inspired by three Estonian short stories, Moonika Siimets creates a charmingly quirky film triptych about longing, including the most relaxed dismemberment of the cinema year. (Matthias Eckkrammer)
