The Ballad of Wallis Island

Eccentric lottery winner Charles (Tim Key) dreams of reuniting his favourite band, McGwyer Mortimer. His eccentric wish finally takes shape when the estranged band members and former lovers Herb McGwyer (Tom Basden) and Nell Mortimer (Carey Mulligan) agree to play a private concert on the remote island of Wallis Island. But unspoken hurt feelings and memories of times past throw the mini-reunion between Herb and Nell off key. As Charles desperately tries to save the long-awaited performance, he realises that harmony should always set the tone in music as well as in life.

Based on his short film The One and Only Herb McGwyer Plays Wallis Island, director James Griffiths (A Million Little Things, Episodes) has created a story about long-standing misunderstandings, lost love and new hope.
