Following the immense success of CARRIE (1976), De Palma once again turns his attention to young people with telekinetic abilities, who this time, however, are being targeted by a secret US government organisation. Robin, the son of a former employee, is kidnapped in a spectacular operation that his father barely survives – and now he is doing everything he can to free him. He hopes to find help from young Gillian, who also has supernatural abilities... Political paranoia meets mystery horror, plus an extremely athletic Kirk Douglas, a sinister John Cassavetes, a fabulous John Williams score and De Palma, who once again lets loose with his formal style: weird perspectives, split screens, excessive slow motion – you name it. Pure cinema, right up to the truly explosive finale!
