In 1981, a film is released after which nothing is the same as it was before. With self-exploitation and great attention to (gory) detail, Sam Raimi and his college friends created a modern classic with THE EVIL DEAD, which, with its coarse handmade effects and dark atmosphere, became a firm favourite with horror fans (and was banned in numerous countries due to its alleged excesses of violence). Part 2 doesn't fall into the trap of better-budgeted sequels, but instead consistently continues the comedy style that was at most hinted at in its predecessor: the first 20 minutes are basically a condensed version of the first film, after which furious madness reigns in the form of grotesque stop-motion, a large portion of self-irony and the cool lines that go with it.
