Tandem – In welcher Sprache träumst du?

17-year-old French girl Fanny is travelling to Germany for the first time. She wants to learn the language of her neighbours from her pen pal Lena in Leipzig. Fanny is shy and still searching for herself, whereas Lena already knows exactly where she wants to go and is an eco-activist. After a bumpy start, the two teenagers quickly become close friends. Fanny is determined to please Lena - and has no problem being creative with her own biography. When Lena comes to Strasbourg for a return visit, Fanny's identity construct threatens to come undone.

With a sophisticated screenplay, two fabulous newcomers and magical cinematic images, Claire Burger's romantic girlfriend film not only embarks on a search for a language of truth, but also for a language of love. Shot half in Leipzig and half in Strasbourg, the film also features two stars of European cinema, Nina Hoss and Chiara Mastroianni, in the roles of Lena and Fanny's mothers respectively.
