STRICTLY HAMLET

Three HAMLET film adaptations as surprise films.
Because the story of the sad Dane has been reliably entertaining audiences for over 400 years, we are showing three film adaptations that are not content with being “inspired by” Shakespeare's original text, but bring it to the screen with full fervor, pathos, and eloquence. Which ones are they? Who knows. What do they have in common? Well...

Prince Hamlet returns to the Danish court and finds the world in a very bad mood: his father is dead, his mother has married his uncle, and his uncle is now sitting on the throne. As if that weren't enough, Hamlet is visited by the ghost of his deceased father, who claims he was murdered. From this moment on, Hamlet begins to search for his way through an increasingly toxic family structure, torn between a sense of duty, doubt, and a certain penchant for dramatic monologues.

As Hamlet tries to figure out who he can trust (spoiler: actually no one), friendships are shaken, intrigues escalate, and the situation at court becomes so tense that even the court actors are drawn into the political turmoil. Hamlet's plan to bring the truth to light through a play leads to a chain reaction of misunderstandings, false conclusions, and deadly decisions that plunge the entire royal family into the abyss.
