Dresden, 1978: When Stasi chief Erich Mielke storms into the Dynamo Dresden dressing room after a sensational victory in the GDR championship, the exuberant mood turns to pure horror. Mielke decides that his favorite club, FC Dynamo Berlin, will take over the GDR's top division with immediate effect. A memorable era begins with sophisticated manipulation and questionable refereeing decisions. But there is resistance in the ranks of the disadvantaged players and fans. A resistance that also formed on the streets and soon heralded the end of the GDR.
