Travelling the world - Africa, Europe, America and Asia. Why? Because the giraffe has fascinated generations of people from the most diverse backgrounds over the centuries to such an extent that a film essay about the largest land animal on earth can convey not only the beauty of nature and biological facts, but also cultural-anthropological and historical contexts. Lea Hartlaub does this incredibly well with her film named after an Egyptian hieroglyph. (J.D.)
