Special Screening: Audiokommentar von Brigitte Weich und Michael Glawogger: Hana, dul, sed …
Special Screening: World premiere of the audio commentary
During the preparations for our Glawogger retrospective, Brigitte Weich dug up the audio commentary that she had recorded together with Michael Glawogger for a planned DVD release of Hana, dul, sed ... - which never came about due to the difficult soccer rights, among other things. We are therefore showing the film again two days after the regular screening, but this time digitally, with the audio commentary as the soundtrack - a world premiere!
For Hana, dul, sed ..., Brigitte Weich and co-director Karin Macher followed four players from one of the best women's soccer teams in the world at the time: the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, from 2004 to 2006. The complete strangeness of life under the North Korean regime contrasts productively with a touching story of young women who fight for something with ambition and enthusiasm - and come into conflict with the norms and demands of a society in an attempt to realize themselves. As bizarre and different as the totalitarian leader cult regime there may be (which was also reflected in the noticeable filming restrictions), the core of what is being told is universal and familiar: The emotional closeness combined with the view into a completely different world give this documentary its own tone. Michael Glawogger, Brigitte Weich's brother-in-law, was one of the main driving forces behind the project. (Christoph Huber)
