As in other countries, politically engaged cinema emerged in Sweden at the end of the 1960s with the establishment of the FilmCentrum distribution collective and the Folkets bio distribution company. Stefan Jarl and Jan Lindqvist were two key players in this milieu, and their unfinished film Förvandla Sverige remains one of the most harrowing depictions of the effects of social democratic capitalism in Sweden. This work will be shown alongside films dealing with national (O'Konor's Renslakt vid Krutvattnet), international (Lamm's Russeltribunalen) and global conflicts (Sjöström's Mass - Monument for a Capitalist Society).
