Sol Luna y Estrella – Filmland Kolumbien

In Colombia, many films reflect the essence of the likes and dislikes, traditions, customs and challenges that society faces. Despite the diversity of film productions, only a few Colombian films reach cinema screens in Austria. For this reason, this initiative was born: a program that aims to create a space where both short and feature-length films from Colombia are shown in order to bring the country's stories closer to Austrian audiences. At the invitation of Medienwerkstatt Wien, the first edition of this series was curated by Isabel Vargas. Isabel Vargas has spent years researching and working at film festivals and in Colombian cinematheques. She knows the Colombian film scene very well and thanks to her connections she was able to establish contacts with producers and distributors and, with the support of various institutions, acquire the rights to screen these films in Austria.
