Malou is fifteen and lives in a small Flemish town where everything is familiar and yet full of unanswered questions. A talented rower, she faces rejection and bullying from her team, while her brothers remain her safe haven. In the middle of the summer holidays, her world is turned upside down when her older brother introduces his new girlfriend, Nouria. An attraction develops between Malou and Nouria that awakens strong feelings and calls supposed certainties into question. SKIFF tells a quiet but intense story about the loud moments of growing up, about longing, self-discovery and the complexity of first love. The film refrains from offering simple solutions and moral judgements, instead showing how young people find their place – even when family ties threaten to tear them apart. A sensitive coming-of-age story about intimacy, love, identity and gender.
