Simone, a Woman of the Century
The French politician Simone Veil (1927 - 2017) achieved groundbreaking results. It not only gave women easier access to contraceptives. In 1975, as Minister of Health, she ensured that abortion became legal. She was also the first woman to be President of the European Parliament before later taking over the Ministry of Social Affairs in France As a survivor of Auschwitz, the remembrance of the Holocaust has always been at the heart of this convinced European. A gripping portrait, also encompassing the private and family level, of a woman committed to women's rights and justice, who was repeatedly caught up in her memories and who was not always left unscathed by the struggles and animosities.
