Shadow of the Vampire (35mm)

The crew of German filmmaker Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau (John Malkovich) are astonished when they are presented with the lead actor of their new film ‘Nosferatu’. The man, who is introduced to them as actor Max Schreck (Willem Dafoe), appears pale as a sheet, with long fingernails and strange clothes for the shoot in Eastern Europe.

Murnau explains that Schreck, who plays Count Orlok, is a method actor who doesn't take his role off the set. However, Schreck is in fact a real vampire, to whom Schreck promises the blood of the leading actress Greta Schröder (Catherine McCormack) as payment. But the vampire cannot quench or control his thirst and so he helps himself to the cameraman. It slowly dawns on Murnau that he is working with a beast, but for the sake of art he wants to finish his film.
