Seven Winters in Teheran

An unrelenting film on an unrelenting subject. It is about nothing less than the death penalty - for Reyhaneh Jabbari, a woman who, 19 years old, defended herself against a rape by stabbing the man who was about to attack her in the back. This man died as a result of the injury. Reyhaneh Jabbari, who fought back, was executed for it in Iran. Before that, she served seven years in prison, during which time her family tried everything to get a retrial.

Reyhaneh Jabbari supported other women in prison and tried her best not to be a victim. Shot in part with a hidden camera, Seven Winters documents this story in Tehran through interviews with Reyhaneh Jabbari's family, audio recordings, and reconstructions of her time in prison and in court.
