September & July

FromAriane Labed

WithMia Tharia, Pascale Kann, Rakhee Thakrar

Year2024

Duration100min.

LanguageEnglish

Sisters July (Mia Tharia) and September (Pascale Kann) are as inseparable as they are different - while September is protective and suspicious of others, July looks at the world with curiosity and openness. Their dynamic worries their single mum Sheela (Rakhee Thakrar), who doesn't know what to do with them.

When September is expelled from school, July is left to fend for herself and begins to assert her independence - which doesn't go unnoticed by September. Tensions between the three women increase when they seek refuge in an old holiday home in Ireland. There, July realises that her relationship with September is changing in a way she can neither fully understand nor control - along with a series of surreal encounters that push the family to their limits.
