Sebastian
Max works for a literary magazine by day and books himself as an escort at night under the pseudonym ‘Sebastian’. His experiences as a sex worker in London flow into his short stories, which are delighting more and more readers. For Max, ‘Sebastian’ is a tool to ground his own literature in authentic experiences. Officially, of course, everything is pure fiction. But while he tries to keep his double life a secret, Max slowly has to admit to himself that the role of sex worker doesn't feel entirely wrong.
In SEBASTIAN, Finnish-British director Mikko Makela (THE COTTAGE BY THE LAKE) tells the story of a young man who has to assert himself in both the literary scene and the escort world - and only really finds himself in the latter. Without ignoring the complex mechanisms and dangers of sex work, ‘Sebastian’ is a remarkably sex-positive film that finds moments of liberation in transgression and kinkiness.
