Se rokh (DREI GESICHTER)
A young woman who wants to study against the wishes of her conservative family desperately calls on a well-known actress for help via video message. The actress in turn asks her friend Jafar Panahi for support. Together they set out on a search and drive to the woman's remote village in the mountains in the north-west of the country. With every kilometre they travel, they delve deeper into a familiar world: rural rituals, sharp-tongued people, the slow unveiling of social constraints. Panahi is less interested in resolution than in friction. With restraint, humour and all the more precision, he negotiates the progressive restrictions on female self-determination – an unmistakable plea for freedom.
