Schusterhof

This sensitive film by Viktoria Kaser from 2012, set in the area around Wels, follows the Weinberger family. Their farm and guesthouse are heavily in debt, but daily life is mastered through routine and solidarity. When the granddaughter begins to shoot the film, something like a family discourse slowly emerges. A negotiation about debt, masculinity and cohesion after the loss of a wife and mother. The film asks what communal space is given to grief in concepts of masculinity and what tools can be used to get back on track together.
