Schöne Tage

Fritz Lehner's impressive adaptation of Franz Innerhofer's autobiographical novel tells the story of an illegitimate mountain farmer's child who has to fight his way out of the narrow confines with woodcut-like vigour. Conservatives found the depiction of the farmers defamatory, probably also because they adhered to a long-outdated image of a social order that had long been glorified by the classic Heimat film.
