Ru

Based on Kim Thúy’s award-winning novel, Ru traces a family’s escape from Vietnam after the fall of Saigon in 1975. Leaving behind a life of privilege, they endure a refugee camp in Malaysia before finding themselves in Quebec. Seen through the eyes of young Nguyen An Tinh, the film captures her journey to adapt to a new language and world, while memories of loss and survival linger—hidden shelters, tearful farewells, and the perilous sea crossing.
