Rosl’s Suitcase

In a suitcase in the cellar of her mother in California the filmmaker finds letters and documents, telling how the nazi annexation of Austria affected the population. It is the story of her jewish grandmother who left Vienna for New York in 1939 and the discrepancies in the family´s history revealed by the suitcase. Juxtaposed is the correspondence with the grandmother during the psychedelic 60s. The film connects the recordings of three generations: the great aunt’s 1947 movies; the aunt’s audio descriptions of her youth in Vienna and Lennard´s own lightshow movies.
