ROMERÍA
Marina, 18, grew up with her mother’s family in Catalonia after the early death of her parents. In need of documents for a scholarship application, she travels to Vigo on Spain’s Atlantic coast to meet her father’s family—people she has never known.
Marina immerses herself in a confusing, buzzing world of new aunts, uncles, cousins, and stories that strangely diverge from what she believed to be true. Her arrival stirs long-buried emotions—repressed feelings, shame, pain, and tenderness. Accompanied by her mother’s diary, Marina begins an unsettling journey into her parents’ lives and her own dreams.
