Romanze für eine Krone
Pida and Maruna, two teenagers from the suburbs, seek evening entertainment in the centre, more precisely in the Junior Club of the Socialist Youth Association, decorated in proper style with posters of class struggle heroes from Lenin to Fidel. There, over the course of an intoxicating night, they immerse themselves deeper and deeper into the realm of Czech popular music - and we with them. In addition to numerous national pop stars, they even meet God - Karel Gott, who saves the evening for the young lovers (and gets the dance hall going with "Paganini"). A flamboyant Eastern variation on Brynych's teenage films in West Germany, which in turn ran successfully in GDR cinemas - interesting both as a contemporary document and because the director once again uninhibitedly indulges his penchant for music.
