Robin’s Hood
Followed by a film discussion with Jasmin Baumgartner
Robin is the founder and president of the RSV, a football club in Vienna's lower league, in whose colours immigrants, asylum seekers and underdogs of all kinds stand together on the pitch: A group of young men from different backgrounds, often divided by many things, but united by one thing: the RSV and its warm, committed and generous president, himself a former prisoner and always on an equal footing with his players, whom he describes as his children.
Jasmin Baumgartner accompanied Robin and his RSV with her camera for seven years. Her film documents the everyday racism on the pitch and in the stands as well as the friendship and friction within the team, from close up, with great sympathy and in the hearty language of its protagonists.
