Retour en Alexandrie
After more than 20 years, Sue returns from Switzerland to her home country of Egypt because her mother Fairouz is in a sick bed. Sue ran away from the eccentric aristocrat as a young adult. Now she feels forced to meet her again - at least to draw a line in the sand. The journey she takes from Cairo to Alexandria holds some surprises and allows Sue to discover her roots. In doing so, she not only finds her mother, but also herself.
The feature film debut of the Swiss filmmaker Tamer Ruggli is characterized by its wonderfully nostalgic character. In the emotionally touching road movie, Nadine Labaki shines in the leading role alongside Grande Dame Fanny Ardant.
