Rap & Revolution Iran
Discussion with director Smid Mirnour after the film!
The film documentary RAP & REVOLUTION IRAN is about the history of Iranian rap music in relation to social events and protests. The focus is on socially critical rappers who were either imprisoned in Iran or had to leave the country for their own protection. The documentary features well-known figures such as Xatar, Kool Savas, Nimo, Celo, Justina, Jasmin Shakeri, Basstard, Vahid Silent, Takt32, Sugar MMFK, Jalil, PTK, Ben Salomo, Amina Aziz, Roxana Samadi and Melissa Khalaj.
Under the Islamist government of Iran, innocent people are: oppressed, attacked, arrested, sentenced to death, tortured, forced to confess, poisoned & executed. Among them are: activists, journalists, environmentalists, rappers, filmmakers, students, children & ordinary people. They need our voices so that their cries of protest are not silenced. This campaign aims to draw attention to the Iranian government's contempt for human rights in its treatment of the Iranian people and to shed light on the role of rap music in Iran.
