Judas received 30 pieces of silver for betraying Jesus. At the beginning of the 19th century, the French, who are travelling through the Tyrolean mountains, offer a bounty of 1,500 guilders for the freedom fighter Andreas Hofer - money that the heavily indebted mountain farmer Franz Raffl could urgently use. And he, of all people, discovers Hofer's secret hideout. Always laughed at and mistreated by everyone, the fate and future of his homeland now lie in his hands.
