QUEERTACTICS Film Festival: Uki
Take a deep breath and then let yourself fall with relish into a queer sci-fi dystopia that has it all: UKI is shrill, wacky and demanding.
The year is 2060 and the focus is on Reiko, who has been robbed of her body data. They are collected at a digital landfill site for electronic waste called Etrashville and unite to form "UKI the virus". From then on, there's no stopping them: biosystems are hacked, sexual desire is manipulated and viruses are fantasised in the form of larger-than-life teammates and counterparts. Meanwhile, transmutants form a resistance. UKI is a complex animated collage with live-action elements that fantasises about queer life between pandemic and technology.
A digital-psychedelic art piece that doesn't need to be understood, but absolutely must be seen. Those who get involved will be wildly rewarded. Cyberpunk at its finest!
