With introductory remarks by Florian Wagner. As a replacement for aimless growth, he presents the Common Good Product. Democratically developed, it can give economic policy a direction grounded in meaning and values.
Democratic decline, fascism, climate crisis, species extinction, housing shortages, war, energy crisis, migration – our world is on the brink of collapse. Those who want to do something about it may be able to bring some relief here and there. But real, effective solutions? Where are they supposed to come from, when crises are becoming more and more numerous?
The good news – there is a central starting point where change can help with almost all these issues: For decades, our economic policy has followed a faulty compass. As a result, it has driven us ever deeper into the ecological, social, and political crises of our time. Purpose tells the story of two people striving to replace this compass, and the challenges they face in doing so.
