For the first time, Argento reaches the peak form that makes him the undisputed maestro del macabro. It begins with parapsychology: a telepathically gifted medium senses a murderous presence - a few hours later, the woman is brutally murdered in her flat. Marcus, an English musician, accidentally witnesses the crime with a colleague. Together with the journalist Gianna, he tries to track down the perpetrator, but becomes entangled in an opaque web of dangers and secrets ... Bit by bit, long-suppressed elements are uncovered and come to the surface, delusion and humour are often not even separated by a sheet of paper and everything is subordinated to the constantly propulsive staging of a man obsessed with the interplay of images and sounds.
