Awards Ceremony and Exclusive Nonstop Cinema Pass Preview of NOUVELLE VAGUE

In recognition of Austria’s diverse cinema culture, the Arts and Culture Section of the Federal Ministry for Arts, Culture, the Civil Service and Sport (BMWKMS) will present the Austrian Cinema Awards for the third time this year. The prize money has been increased and aligned with the federal government’s other arts and culture awards as a sign of appreciation.

The main prize for outstanding programming — awarded for the first time with a purse of €20,000 — goes to Linz’s Moviemento & City Cinema.

To mark the awards ceremony and an exclusive film preview, the BMWKMS, in collaboration with the nonstop cinema subscription service, invites audiences for the first time to the Moviemento Cinema in Linz — recipient of the Austrian Cinema Award 2025 — on 18 December 2025. Following the ceremony, the new feature film Nouvelle Vague by US cult director Richard Linklater will be screened. Celebrated at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, the film is a vibrant homage to an iconic classic of film history: Jean-Luc Godard’s Breathless.
