Prater (1936)
There is hardly a film that shows a more densely woven, more intense picture of the old Prater than this production. This is probably one of the reasons why PRATER, which premiered in Vienna in 1936, was banned by the Berlin censors for the German market. The Viennese demimonde, enriched with gamblers, womanisers and suicides, ran counter to Nazi propagandists. It was only after changes and interventions that the film, now known as DER WEG DES HERZENS, was also shown in Germany from 1937. (Ernst Kieninger)
