Popiół I Diament
May 1945: Germany has surrendered, but the war continues in Poland, where those who fought against the Nazis are now targeting the new occupiers from the East. Maciek and Andrzej, two young soldiers, are ordered to kill a high-ranking communist. As two innocent people are killed in the first attempt, they want to do better the second time and catch their target at a party in a hotel. But while they wait for their chance, their guilty conscience kicks in ... The powerful conclusion to Wajda's trilogy about the war traumas of his generation is ennobled by the almost uncanny presence of his sun-brilliant and contradictory leading actor Zbigniew Cybulski, who has not been called the ‘Polish James Dean’ for nothing.
