A mad scientist mounts goose heads on dogs' bodies and is also quite innovative when it comes to humans: he replaces the brain of a suicidal woman with that of her unborn child and then revives the result: an adult woman with baby manners who soon discovers her own body and falls prey to the desires of a shyster.

POOR THINGS is a bizarre treatise on feminism, Frankenstein and the question of what science is allowed to do. It has just been awarded the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival; for Emma Stone, who co-produced the film, it is the performance of her life.
