Point Blank

FromJohn Boorman

WithLee Marvin, Angie Dickinson, Keenan Wynn, Sharon Acker u.a.

Year1967

Duration92min.

A gangster named Walker on a vendetta up to the highest circles of a mysterious syndicate. Not a character, but a force of nature, brutal and
inscrutable, projected onto an icon named Lee Marvin, who unwaveringly blazes a trail of blood through the modernist glass facades and penthouse interiors of L.A., while all around him time and space are coming apart at the seams. (Is Point Blank just (Is Point Blank just its protagonist's chaotic, nihilistic last dream?) In his brilliant US debut, John Boorman's quintessentially cool and slyly witty film is a cross between pulp and Pynchon, Resnais and revenge movie, Borges and brilliant, lightning-like pop art visualisation. Film critic Jonathan Rosenbaum: ‘A suitable alternative title would be Tarzan versus IBM, one of the working titles of Jean-Luc Godard's Alphaville.’ (Christoph Huber)
