This panel discussion aims to explore various aspects of political and artistic resistance and bring together national and international perspectives. The event is a co-operation with the shift project ‘Library of Disobedience’ under the direction of Negin Rezaie. The Library of Civil Disobedience aims to establish an artistic research platform on civil disobedience and various forms of resistance and to provide space for the relevant archives and individuals.

Discussants:
Negin Rezaie (*1990, Iran) is a multidisciplinary artist, curator and researcher specialising in visual and performative arts. She explores themes such as resistance, shame and education as a form of resistance. She curates exhibitions, directs artistic projects and is active in research projects, including ‘Autosociobiographies’ (PEEK/ FWF) at the Film Academy Vienna/mdw.

Kweku Okokroko (*1999, Ghana) is a painter and writer and is currently studying in the drawing class at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. His work combines literary and visual arts, explores themes such as nature, identity and morality and weaves Ghanaian oral traditions into paintings, texts and drawings.

Olga Shapovalova (*1988, Uzbekistan) is a Vienna-based artist, curator and cultural producer. Her practice questions feminist concepts and explores sexuality, physicality and perception with humour and nostalgia. Through film and curatorial work, she aims to promote dialogue, solidarity and transformation.

The discussion will be held in German and English.
