Playing with Fire: An Ecosexual Emergency
They are back! When the redwood forests in Boulder Creek, Northern California, burned in 2020, Annie Sprinkle and Beth Stephens, like many of their neighbours, had to leave their homes. This prompted the eco-sexual couple and artists to dedicate their third film together to fire: fire in its destructive potential as well as in its power to heal. Formerly incarcerated firefighters, indigenous scholars, fire artists, neighbours, witches, a fire massage fetishist and a burlesque queen who juggles fire tassels talk about their experiences with fire – and even Peacock Albert has a few anecdotes to share. A film with plenty of wit and humour about loss, lust, indigenous knowledge, the climate crisis, social justice, solidarity and the resilience of queer communities.
