Through a message in a bottle, Pippi learns that her father is being held captive by pirates on the island of Taka-Tuka Land. The pirates will only release him once he reveals the hiding place of the family treasure. With the help of her two friends, Annika and Tommy, Pippi sets out to rescue her father. And so the three embark on their journey to Taka-Tuka Land…

Pippi and her friends Tommy and Annika are having wonderful days: the parents of the two are away, and Pippi is supposed to look after them and take care of them. She proves to be endlessly inventive, coming up with new games all the time. But suddenly she finds a message in a bottle and realizes that her father has been captured by pirates.
Pippi decides at once to set out on a rescue mission to free her beloved papa. Naturally, Tommy and Annika must go along, since Pippi promised their parents never to leave them alone for even an hour. In their “Myskodil,” a hot-air balloon with a bed attached to it, the three set off for Taka-Tuka, the island where her father is being held. After many small and large obstacles, they finally reach the fortress where Captain Longstocking is forced to endure the harshest conditions.
But the inventive Pippi soon finds ways to free her father, take the pirates’ ship from them, and liberate the rest of the crew.
