Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid
New Mexico, 1881: The Wild West is in a state of upheaval. Wealthy landowners appoint the gunslinger Pat Garrett as sheriff. They hope to have an ally in him in the fight against his former companion, the notorious outlaw Billy the Kid. Pat gives his old friend five days to make a break for it, but Billy has no intention of bowing to state authority ... So while one of them comes to terms with the new circumstances (and the capital), the other still dwells on a romanticised past. This contrast makes Peckinpah's late western - in the truest sense of the word - timeless. In addition to the great leading actors, Bob Dylan, who also contributed the soundtrack, is convincing in a supporting role. (Florian Widegger)
