Pastorali
Four musicians from Tbilisi spend the summer in a secluded village. Initially unsure how to engage with this unfamiliar world, they find that the children of the family hosting them, in particular, show interest in people from the city. And so, gradually, they too discover the beauty of the country and the secrets of its people, while also imparting insights into their modern world to the villagers, especially to a curious young woman... Iosseliani's third feature film, withheld in his homeland, paved the way for the director's new career in the West at the premiere in the year of his emigration. Claire Devarrieux: "As in the most beautiful silent films, cinema reigns and demonstrates its genius in the poetic portrayal of the world."
