What happens when an Italian housewife misses the bus with her family and the whole travelling party at a rest stop? If she is like Rosalba, for example, if she has always wanted to go to Venice, she simply changes her itinerary. Hitchhiking, she arrives in the city of her dreams and looks for a place to stay for the night. She finds the sad, romantic gentleman and waiter Fernando, who puts her up - in a friendly but politely distant manner. The next day she even finds a job with an old florist. Her husband Mimmo rages on the phone - but a new life begins for Rosalba, a time-out in which her misfortunes diminish and her happiness increases.
