Oscar – Live Action Shorts

On the day of the OSCAR Awards, we will be showing the LIVE ACTION SHORT FILM programme curated by Shorts Attack. All films are OSCAR nominated.

The LIVE ACTION SHORT FILM programme brings together films that address in different ways universal themes such as resistance, identity and human resilience in complex social contexts. Each film offers a precise look at individual struggles, be it in the context of migration, personal fears or social injustice. A LIEN, for example, centres on the challenges of a family facing the bureaucratic and dangerous hurdles of US immigration policy, while I'M NOT A ROBOT questions self-perception and identity in the digital age. THE LAST RANGER weaves nature and human conservation into an intense story of survival, while THE MAN WHO COULD NOT REMAIN SILENT addresses the danger of silence in a moment of political repression. ANUJA gives an intimate insight into the challenges of a young sister facing a life-changing opportunity and questioning her relationships in the process. Each of these films not only portrays individual fates, but invites us to reflect on the larger social and political structures that shape the lives of the characters.
