One From the Heart: Reprise
Down-to-earth Hank (Frederic Forrest) and fun-loving Frannie (Teri Garr) break up while celebrating their fifth anniversary in Las Vegas. Both then spend a night with their supposed dream partners; Hank meets Leila (Nastassja Kinski), a German circus performer, and Frannie meets Ray (Raul Julia), a charming waiter who pretends to be a cocktail pianist and singer. Will the idealised partners become true love or is the bond between them not yet completely broken?
Francis Ford Coppola shot the Oscar-nominated musical directly after his turbulent and challenging shoot for Apocalypse Now. ONE FROM THE HEART was originally planned as a small film, whose budget was inflated from 2 million dollars to over 25 million dollars and forced Coppola into bankruptcy as a result. The film only made $630,000 at the US box office. Tom Waits, on the other hand, was able to rejoice: his soundtrack for the film was nominated for Best Film Score at the 1983 Oscars.
The reprise version released in 2023 includes alternative and exclusive footage. We are looking forward to the Austrian premiere of this special cut
