Maria Stadler has been running her film theatre in the Bavarian wasteland for more than 30 years and does everything herself: She organises the programme, heats the auditorium, collects the heavy film boxes from the train station and performs. And she sits at the box office, where she waits for an audience that comes to the cinema less and less often. With concerts and Punch and Judy shows, she tries to cope with the dwindling attendance ...

This affectionate portrait of a pioneer and idealist who, like a Don Quixote with a delicate voice but all the more strength in body and soul, has dedicated herself to cinema as her life's work, is full of admiration for so much commitment - without ignoring the darker side that comes with so much dedication.
