This first Nepalese feature film to be released in cinemas in the West begins with a traditional wedding. But Numafung, the bride, soon wants to go her own way and above all not submit to the patriarchal structures. Against a spectacular Himalayan backdrop, a finely observed drama unfolds that emancipates itself from the prevailing Indian mainstream and finds its own language. (Florian Widegger)
